Use of Old City Hall
If you are looking for a unique location to host an event at Capitol Square, consider the four story atrium of the lobby area at the historic Old City Hall. A location that has become a traditional meeting point for legislators and lobbyists during the Virginia General Assembly Sessions, the Old City Hall is ideal for many company or agency events.
The Commonwealth of Virginia owns and operates the Old City Hall Building. The Department of General Services' (DGS) Division of Engineering and Buildings (DEB) handles all operations for Old City Hall, including reserving space for receptions.
Because the facility functions as an office building, events may only be scheduled for weekday evenings. DEB does not provide any furnishings, equipment, or catering. Read the Regulations for Use of Old City Hall for additional terms, conditions, and restrictions that apply.
How to Reserve Space:
Read the Regulations for Use of Old City Hall. All events must be scheduled for after 5:30pm.
Contact DEB to check availability. You may place a reservation that will be held for up to two weeks before an application is received. Space is scheduled on a first come basis.
Submit a completed Application for Use of Old City Hall at least two weeks prior to the requested date for the event.
Successful applicants will receive a mailed or faxed permit and invoice from DEB. The permit will include any other specific stipulations or procedures that may be necessary at the time.
One week prior to the event DEB must receive: full payment, Certificate of Insurance, and a copy of ABC license if alcohol will be served.
