PRINTER CARTRIDGE RECYCLING:
You can now recycle printer cartridges through the Surplus Property Office of the Virginia Department of General Services. And the effort is easy and free!
What do we collect?
- Ink Jet Cartridges: Black & White and Color
- Laser Printer Cartridges
- Fax Machine Printer Cartridges
(To protect outside parts, laser printer and fax cartridges must be wrapped in materials like bubble wrap or newsprint, and can also be boxed. Original boxes are not necessary.)
How do we collect the cartridges? You have several options.
We can mail you postage-paid mailing labels to use so you can mail cartridges from your location (you provide the boxes and send a minimum of 30 pounds of cartridges per label)
or
you can send the cartridges to Surplus Property via Interoffice mail, or you can drop off your cartridges at either the Richmond or Wytheville Surplus Warehouse -- and we will recycle them.
(1) For Postage-Paid Labels:
(click here for the order form)
Through DGS, order self-addressed postage-paid labels to mail your cartridges directly to our recycler.
• You provide the cardboard boxes (just re-use boxes from your work site).
• Please note: 30-pound minimum of cartridges (any combination) must be sent per label used.
• 30 pounds = 15 toner cartridges or 120 ink jet cartridges.
Just email, fax or mail a completed order form to Georgiana Ball at georgiana.ball@dgs.virginia.gov with your request. Be sure to include a complete mailing address, contact name, email address and phone no.
Please Note: Try to make requests that result in collecting cartridges from more than one office/department in your agency. This will greatly increase program efficiency for all!
(2) Mail or deliver cartridges to the Surplus Property Office.
Send cartridges to us free-of-charge through Interoffice State Mail if you are located in the Richmond metro area, or bring them to one of our Surplus Property Warehouses, either Richmond or Wytheville.
