DCLS Method

Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds in Drinking Water by Liquid-Solid Extraction and GCMS

Reference Method

EPA 525.2

Test Description

A sample aliquot is prepared and passed through a chemically solid extraction disk using a vacuum. The analytes are adsorbed onto the disk, the disk is rinsed, and analytes are removed from the disk with solvent. The extract is dried and analyzed by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy (GC/MS).

Sample Collection

Samples are collected in duplicate in 1 L amber glass bottles with PTFE lined lids. Samples are preserved and acidified with sodium sulfite and 1:1 hydrochloric acid, respectively. Field Reagent Blanks (FRB) filled with reagent water and preservatives are also included.

Storage Guidelines

Samples are protected from light and are stored in a refrigerator in the analytical lab area where they are kept between 0 to 6ÂșC until analysis.
