Test Description

An aliquot is taken from the container and adjusted to a basic pH. The basic solution is then acidified with concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and extracted into methyl-tert-butyl-ether (MtBE). The sample is deratized for identification and concentration determination with a dual column Gas Chromatograph (GC) equipped with electron capture detectors (ECDs).

Sample Collection

Samples are collected in duplicate in 250 ml amber glass bottles with PTFE lined screw caps. Samples are preserved with sodium sulfite.

Storage Guidelines

The samples are stored in a refrigerator in the analytical lab area where they are kept between 0 to 6ºC until analysis.
