ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING CATALOG SM 5310 B
DCLS Method
Total and disolved organic carbon, combustion
Reference Method
SM 5310 B
Test Description
Following the removal of inorganic carbon, organic carbon is oxidized to carbon dioxide (CO2). The CO2 is then detected by a non-dispersive infrared detector.
Sample Collection
Collect approximately 40 ml of representative sample in a glass vial sealed with TFE-backed septa preserved with H2SO4 to < = pH 2.
Storage Guidelines
Samples must be cooled to <= 4 °C after collection, and preferably shipped to the lab within 24 hours. If samples will not be analyzed within 24 hours after collection, then store samples at <=4 °C for up to 28 days following collection.
