Test Description

This is a spectrophotometric test method using Methylene blue active substances (MBAS) anion and the methylene blue cation dye to measure the blue color in a chloroform extraction of surfactants by spectrophotometry at 652 nm.

Sample Collection

Collect aqueous samples in amber glass bottles. THe volume collected should be sufficient to ensure LD/LFM analysis; ≈ 1L.

Storage Guidelines

Store samples at 0 - 4 °C and analyze within 48 hours.
