Test Description: The Rubajet test is a rapid latex agglutination test in which latex particles are coated with rubella virus antigens. When the latex reagent is mixed with a specimen containing rubella specific antibody at a concentration of approximately 10 IU/ml or greater, agglutination of latex particles will be observed.

Specimen Type: Serum
Collection Container: Red Top or serum separator tube
Optimal Volume: 0.5 ml serum or 1 ml serum and cells
Collection Guidelines: A venous blood specimen should be collected in a tube with no additives.
Storage Container: Samples should be stored in original tubes for 7 days in a 2-8 °C refrigerator.
Storage Instructions: Samples should be stored at 2-8 °C for 2 days after collection. Serum may be aliquotted and stored at 2-8 °C for shipping or frozen at -20°C or colder.
Transportation Instructions: Ship on cold packs
