HIGH PERFORMANCE BUILDING CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS
High Performance Building Certification Programs
The Code of Virginia §15.2-1804.1, Building by locality; high performance standards require certain buildings to be designed, constructed, and operated to comply with a high performance building certification program. In addition to the high performance building certification programs of U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Green Building Initiative’s “Green Globes” building standards, Virginia Energy Conservation and Environmental Standards (VEES) is recognized as a high performance building certification program.
VEES is included in the Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM) as Appendix V Current CPSM Edition
Localities that choose to use VEES to comply with the requirements of the Code of Virginia §15.2-1804.1 are advised of the following:
- Use the Current CPSM and applicable DEB Notices
- Forms and formats for review and certification are available on the DEB Forms Center Documents and Forms
- Each locality is responsible for program administration and self-certification
